Roman Culture

Way back when, around 800 BC to be exact, there were glimpses of a culture that has paved the way for many civilizations, including ours. It’s amazing how a diverse group of people can bond and become united. First they endured or suffered through various stages of dissatisfaction, miscommunication and confusion before a connection is was formed.

This happened prior to the founding of Rome, several groups of people established small villages in a common area and like civilization today there were slaves, workabees (middle class) and wealthy people - they gradually joined hands via a social monarchy that resembles today’s societies.

History about the Roman culture varies, because so much of their history contains mythical people or legends intertwined with reality. But the story goes that two brothers, twins in fact, were the leaders of Rome. Whether that’s true or not, Rome was actually put on the map and recorded in history around 735 BC. Some still celebrate this momentous occasion every year.

This was the beginning of the most awesome empire in all of our history, not only because of its size the fact that many different cultures were living, breathing and existing at the same time within on empire. Yep, there were kings killing kings and the greedy who spent all of their time wanting more control, but the amazing things thru all of the historical atrocities that occurred, it lasted or at least stayed in tact until the 1st Century BC.

History claims many reasons for the fall of the empire morals, greed, materialism, wars and the rapid growth of the empire. The interesting part of the story, or the end of the story as Paul Harvey would say – Roman Empire doesn’t have a real ending or climax – governments, religions and leaders still do as the “Romans Did.” We may appear in control and have a handle on things politically, spiritually and morally, but appear is certainly the “keyword” here.
